Asus PB278Q or PB287Q?

Verdinate

Which one should I get?

The things I do is mostly code, game and surf the web. One is 1440p, one is 4K. The PB278Q is 27" while the PB287Q is 28".

Both are by favourite company, so that's also a nice bonus -- and they have thin bezels which I really love.

The PB287Q has a 10 bit panel, which is pretty sweet. Both are TN, but that's okay for me.

Thanks.

Few things:

- 287Q is 28'

- 278Q is PLS (variation of ISP as far as I'm aware)

- I can't speak for the 287Q (althought I'm pretty sure they have the exact same design) but the 278Q has pretty thick bezels

I have a 278Q and it's gorgeous, best $600 I've spent and would definitely recommend.

The 287Q has a few issues, namely:

- TN panel

- 4k Scaling issues in windows (which if your coding could be a serious issue)

Sorry about the confusing naming btw.

The Asus PB278Q has a swivel stand, get that if you code as much as you game. It also looks like it has a matte bezel, which is IMO a must have for any monitor.

The QNIX QX2710 has had some defects of screw holes being stripped and stands being scratched. Also, there is no height adjust, but if you want to change the cheaper price tag then go for it!

Don't get a 4k monitor unless it's IPS because there's no reason to have something that is meant to look good, but doesn't have color depth

317 is watching. 317 is everywhere. 317 is life.

Faced with the same dilemma, I ended up going with the 4k monitor because if I'm gonna be stuck with the monitor for the next few years I want it to be as crisp as possible. The pb287q is among the nicest tn panels I've seen. The 10bit colour is good enough for gaming and general desktop use. But not accurate enough for professional colour work. It also has a 1ms response time which is good for gaming.

Neither. Get a BenQ BL2710PT or save some money and get one of the Korean 1440p monitors like the QNIX QX2710

Well that's comparing the 278Q and 287Q....

The BL2710PT is still a better monitor then the 278Q. If you're going to get a 278Q might as well save money and get a Korean 1440p.

I am not sure if the build quality of the Korean monitor stands are as good. There is a lot to be said for a quality stand unless you plan to use a mount.

The stands are nothing special, very basic at best. But when on a stand like this, it's all good!
