Hello, I have a problem with my K70 keyboard, turning on the backlight causes a buzz/whine/hum in my headphones.

What I found, is that the intensity varies depending on which ports I plug the keyboard and headphones into.
The loudest (unbearable) being when the headphones are connected to the front panel, irrelevant to where the keyboard is connected to.
Second loudest (slightly tolerable) being when the headphones and keyboard are connected to the back of the pc.

Temporary fix: The whining noise is eliminated when I connect the keyboard to the front of the pc, and the audio to the back, which is really inconvenient.

So I am still looking for a better solution, and I don't understand why this is the only way I can currently get away from all that EMI in my ears.

I've been searching for solutions all night. Any ideas?

I am using 3.5mm jack headphones, a Corsair 450D case and a z97 Maximus VII Ranger mobo.

there is nothing you can do about this beside buying a sound card. try to enable the charger+ feature for the port the keyboard is plugged into.

You could make a ghetto grounding solution. Get a speaker wire and connect it to a screw on your PSU and a metal part on the keyboard

Buy a sound card. Your motherboard has horrible EMI.

Thanks for the quick replies.

The charge+ feature simply disables my keyboard.

I don't like the idea of extra wires so the ghetto solution doens't work for me, but I might try it out of curiosity.

Will a cheap Xonar DGX deliver better sound than the onboard SupremeFX 2014?

Kind of ironic that I get this problem when the Asus marketing material writes this about the mobos audio:

"Cutting-edge isolation technologies minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI)"

I used the keyboard on my laptop and the buzz was barely noticeable.
