i have heard that kingston have changed the NAND on this ssd a while back.

1) how much slower is it than an 840 EVO?

2) how much worse is the NAND compared to the previous NAND used?

3) how much faster is the V300 than a performance hard drive ( e.g. Caviar Black, Seagate Barracuda 7200.14)?

1) Benchmarks a lot

2) Much worse

3) Very noticeable

The speed, or the perception of speed with a SSD is because of it's response time, not usually in read/write throughput.

Just avoid v300 or kingston in general. Stunt they pulled with v300 pretty much puts them on the shitlist.

I mean, next time they could just go ahead and replace the nand with the shittiest, flash drive quality nand. I mean, it would still hit 550/500MB/s, since sandforce can hit that on *anything*.
