Original post, No. Thats msata port, not pcie. Just Get a regular SSD? $65 will currently get you a few different 120GB SSds

Can i put a laptop ssd in a pci slot and boot off it? i need this for a cheep desktop i am building for a family member

no you can't this is an Msata slot. not PCI-E

yes. and usually anyway. the board comes with sata 2 3gb/s anyway

other than that. what is the build ? maybe youcould get a motherboard with an Msata slot on it

That was back in Z77 days. On Z87 and Z97 you'll get all SATA-III / 6G ports (don't know about H- or B- Chipsets, though.) Anyway, the different SATA versions are compatible - it will just run at the (s)lower version.

Even if it would have worked (it wont, as it was pointed out) this ssd SUX. Like a lot.
