Build me a Beast!

Go to solution Solved by Wtalk2,

HAHAHAH, forgot to put the link - http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/zg6dJx

Looks good to me :D Only thing I would suggest is to get another 4GB of RAM ASAP to help with multitasking but otherwise this build would be great for what you're planning on doing :)

Hey guys, I have $700 spare dollars and I want to build me a gaming PC.

I already have a hard drive and disk drive from my Previous PC so no need to put that into the cost.

I have a $700AUD Budget, I live in Victoria, Australia. In this cost you need to include OS. (Windows 8.1)

I already have a case picked out and I don't want any other one, I have seen this case and I love it - http://www.corsair.com/pt-pt/carbide-series-spec-03-orange-led-mid-tower-gaming-case - It cost's $75AUD from where I am getting it.

I am trying to make a gaming based system here so please try and make the best bang for the buck stuff and if you need to ask a question, just ask

Thank you

Main PC/Gaming PC - G3258 @ 4.0GHz | Sapphire R9 280 3gb | 2x4GB Kingston Fury HyperX Blue 1600Mhz RAM | ASRock H97M Anniversary | x2 Seagate Barracuda 1tb | Coolermaster N400 Windowed | EVGA 600B 600W PSU | Windows 8

Keyboard, Mouse etc. - Razer Blackwidow Expert 2014 Green Switches | Logitech G502 Mouse | Logitech G430 Headset | Logitech C920 Webcam |

Screens - Acer K27HL | Acer S23HL | 32" Full HD TV (Don't know brand) |

So many possible configurations you can choose from.. If you're strictly gaming it would make sense to choose a higher end video card. With that being said, I think you should pick out your own parts and look at reviews. Just make sure to get a high quality power supply.

Ah crap, was about to post this but then $700... ):

No point in spending $4000 when a $1000 rig will be more than enough. Most people don't care for 4K. You hit the law of diminishing return pretty quickly.

How is this build?

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/kTMTjX

Should I change anything, I am looking to play games like BF3 Multiplayer on atleast Medium @ 1080p

Same with CSGO, looking to play that at about High @1080p. How would this build do on these games?

Oh and does anyone know how high I could overclock this CPU, apparently I can get around 4.4GHz on the stock cooler

Also for later in the future what would be a good GPU to go with this build, without having to upgrade anything besides the PSU? Running a bit tight on money

You can't overlock that CPU with that motherboard.

Yeah, after looking some that price point is insanely hard to work with in Australia. A bit better can be done, however. Didn't mean to be so harsh.

I personally don't like the spec-03 and find it a bit cheap (I've seen it in real life and was far from impressed). The S340 is likely the best case you'll be able to get in your price range unless you jump up to a phanteks enthoo pro.

If you don't have a 144Hz monitor, 150fps will not matter. You should be looking at 60fps, which is likely the refresh rate of your monitor.

It will EASILY play CS-GO at over 100FPS at medium settings. It will probably stay over 100FPS even at high settings :)

Thank you for all the help, will probably get 4gb of RAM within the 2 weeks of having it, also what kind of overclock could I get on the stock cooler without risking frying CPU? If you know?

It really all depends on the CPU you get since it varies between CPU's (Even of the same kind) From what I've heard though it is pretty easy to get decent overclocks, even on stock cooling. I'm guessing you should be able to get easily above 4GHz on stock cooling without having to worry about tempuratures too much :D

You need a z97 or z87 motherboard to properly overclock that processor, which quite frankly isn't the greatest at stock clocks.

I'd also recommend going for 8gb of ram rather than 4. Buying ram separately is generally more expensive and you may face issues getting a matching kit. It's just a $20 difference between the 4gb kit you chose and a 8GB kit.

I also feel you spent a bit much on the PSU (80+ gold is nice but not sensible in a build of this caliber) and you also forgot to include hard drive.

Here's a build that will perform much better for a very similar price and has the ability to overclock. As always, you can switch out the chassis for something you rather. It may be worth adding an aftermarket CPU cooler like the CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ Evo so that you can overclock your CPU out of the box (I really wouldn't recommend over clocking with the stock cooler). You can always get your windows key off G2A so you can put more of your budget towards performance.

If you look at the BIOS update changelog's for most B85/H97 motherboards you will see that they allow overclocking on the G3258. I agree he should get the 8GB of RAM all at once but if he doesn't have the money then there isn't anything he can really do :/. He already said he has a spare hard drived he is going to use and as for the PSU it may be a bit overkill but it is high quality and as long as he doesn't upgrade to more than one GPU it will last him a long time.

Fractal design's PSUs are also very well made. The OP really won't benefit from a more expensive gold rated PSU and can't upgrade to a dual GPU setup with the lower end motherboards regardless.

The difference between the 4GB kit selected and an 8GB kit is $20,so it really wouldn't be the smartest to buy the ram separately. You can fit in 8GB of ram as well as a GTX 760 right around $630 before OS with one of the lower tier motherboards http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/tpYzHx . You could even step down to a 750Ti and come out around $510. The reason I hesitate with the cheaper motherboards that are able to overclock the g3258 is the fact that a low their mobo won't have quality capacitors or power phases that are necessary for easy and smooth overclocking. If you'd read my prior post carefully you'd see that I said proper overclocking, as I am aware of the lower tier non-z boards but lack faith in them.
