I haven't used this board for a build but my friend asked me to build a rig with this board, is this a good board? he doesn't intend to over clock and plans to buy the i5 4690.

 

Is it worth SGD $236.00or should I spend the SGD $359.00for a Z97 board? (cheapest board I can find in the shop I buy)

You don't need to go Z97, but B85 is the most basic business class board.

Check out what options it gives, what connections he'll need and go from there.

He might not need anything more. I don't believe they support SLI or Crossfire though.

If you don't intend to overclock it's not worth it to spend the money for a high end board, even if it's B85. There's likely cheaper H97 offerings,

nope np SLI  or Xfire he's using his old GPU GTX680

Then it should be fine. The board only supports 1600mhz memory, so make sure he doesn't spend any on something faster.

It also only has 6 USB ports, so you'd want to make sure that's enough for him as well.

Most people don't need the fancy higher end boards.
