Hi i was thiking on building a new gaming rig but for the last few years i did not follow on any new developments in pc and trying to get back into it. My new rig is going to be:

Motherboard Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0

CPU AMD FX-8350 4000 MHz Eight Core With Corsair H seires cooling

GPU AMD/ATI Radeon R9 280X 3GB GDDR5 950 MHz

RAM Corsair Vengeance Black 16GB DDR3

PSU Corsair AX860i ATX 2.31 860W

Storage Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB+1tb WesternDigital Black

Any thoughts? Is there too much or not enough. any feedback would be nice. ^_^

I know its a bit overkill but i was thinking on adding more ram and a second gpu in the future its more future protection or do you think its a bad idea? Oh and an other thing i want an amd based system. At the moment i am using intel but my first ever pc was amd and for nostalgia reasons i want amd.

It would be nice to have a budget to work around.

I would get an AIO from NZXT or Cooler Master because the pumps have less failure rate which is not to say you will get a bad Corsair AIO.

I hope the GPU is not a reference design because if it is you are going to get some downclocking problems. I would get a non-reference one.

16Gb of RAM is a the sweet spot now but get 2x8gb sticks instead of 4x4gb sticks.

PSU is overkill but i don't know if you want to upgrade, meaning SLI in the future. 700-750 watts is more than enough for single or CrossX or SLI.

As of last month is was discovered that Samsung SSDs has a problem where any data not written to for a period of some weeks will now never do the advertised speed, you get like 80mb/s. There is a fix and you can find out more about it here with detailed instructions.

Lastly, welcome!

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

As for my budget im thinking up to 2000 euro but this rig is far less than i intend to spend so thats good.(this includes monitors cases and some periferals). Rams i was imtending to buy 2X8 in the first place. Thanks for the info on liquid cooling will look into that a bit more. And a second gpu is in my mind. But i will consider buying it only when this one will not be enough.

Downgrade to 8 gigs of ram. No difference between 16GB and 8GB in gaming. and also get something like a Corsair RM 850 or 750. It'll save you alot of money

Do you want a AMD CPU or do you want an amd gpu aswell? If you only want a cpu from amd, id go with a gtx 980; And maybe an AIO from another company, like a nzxt x61 or swiftech or whatever.
