Minecraft server help?

Hey everyone I recently rebuilt a PC out of the parts that I upgraded from and was wondering if anyone knew how to or of any good guides to make a minecraft server work?

I have gotten it to work locally but not public to the internet.

You will need to port-forward for others to be able to connect to your server from outside your home network.

you will need to look up a tutorial on youtube on how to "port forward" because I don't have a tutorial for that.

Every ISP will have a different router so it can get pretty complicated.

Yes. You will have to port forward. Which can be done within your routers control panel.

He has a private one. He does not have a public one.

What? A server in a container would work just as if it's installed directly to the OS.

 

He has the server working. But people outside his private network cannot connect. 

He needs to port forward.

forward whatever port you want from outside to ip address of system running server and specified port

possibly sign up for dynamic dns record so that you dont have to have your friends constantly change their server record everytime they want to play

whitelist those allowed to play or leave open to public
