Lets say i am going to build a brand new computer that is exstreamly powerful, how do i know what powersupply i should get? I see many power supply's that have numbers on them like tx750 1200 320 and so on. how can i figure out what power supply to get? do i have to find out how much a CPU or GPU uses in power and add them all up then get a power supply that has a number higher then that? how can i find out if a power supply is too powerful or cant handle the computers power. also how can i prevent me buying a power supply that will destroy everything else in my computer when i turn it on? thanks for the help and also give me advice on buying power supply's

you could use PC part picker which gives an estimate wattage. a power supply can never be "too powerful"

Intel Core I7 4770K @ 3.5Ghz | Asus ROG Strix 1070 OC to 2163mhz | Asus Z87 Pro LGA 1150 MotherBoard | 16 (2x8) Crucial Ballistix 1600 Mhz RAM | 256gb ADATA Xpg SX900 SSD | WD Black 1TB | NZXT 750 Watt PSU | Phantom 530 White Case | 2x Benq Rl2455HM | K70RGB (First gen) Cherry MX Red

You can always ask the forum. Show the build and maybe someone can tell you. You obviously also need to check you have the right amount of 8/6 pin connectors.
