Friend needs help with a build...

Nvoltis

My friend made his own build, with a Nvidia GT 740 and an AMD A10 7700k...

So my other friend gave him this: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/BRkwCJ
Then he wanted the AMD core and an SSD, but he doesn't have enough for an SSD so my friend gave him this: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/jcyQLk

Location: Canada

Budget: $900

Peripherals/Monitor: No peripherals, no monitor, and no OS. He has his own copies...

Aim: He just wants to use it for gaming... He normally plays League of Legends, but he might get interested into games such as Call of Duty or Battlefield on PC.

Other: He just told me he wants a processor above 3.8 GHz... He wants a case that looks "Cool" with a windowed side panel, and a mid tower. Color scheme does not matter!

At this point, I don't even feel like making my own list for him; because it's frustrating to build a PC on a tight budget, with someone who knows almost nothing about computers. So hopefully you guys have the patience that I don't, thanks!

I didn't make that list, my other friend made it.

You got any ideas for this? Trying to make it on PC Part Picker, but it's making me angry. Haha.

both builds will accomplish what he is looking for if he wants to game on a single 1080p.

The only thing I can say is "Sorry your friend is an idiot".  I would honestly just leave him to his own ideas if he doesn't want to take your advice.

Probably something like the fx 8320 and still keep the 290.

That looks pretty good. I'm to assume he has a Windows OS license to use and all necessary peripherals?

Get a small SSD for the games and OS. Later when he runs out of space get another SSD or HDD.

Also get a better CPU otherwise the games will lag if they're processor heavy. SC2 lags at 80FPS on my i7 because of the CPU when the GPU is running half load.

And tell your friend to stop giving you advice or you'll make him build the pc. (BTW 3.8Ghz doesn't mean fast. 2.2Ghz with 4 cores and hyper threading will whoop it.)
