One of my SATA power cables went up in smoke and burns the plastic connector while it was connected to one of my hard drives. Luckily, I smelled the burned plastic ASAP and prevented it from burning more.

Here's a picture of the damage done.

and here's the picture of the damaged HDD SATA power connector.

Anyways, I want to know if it was the HDD's fault, a dirt of some kind, or the PSU's fault.

could be either HDD or PSU. id test the HDD with a different psu if you can, to see

I think that's not possible anymore. The HDD has 1 power pin missing caused by the burning.

the pin was pulled out with the power connector, sadly. It can be seen from the picture of the connector

It's the power pin, sadly. I tried scraping off the burned part of the hard drive to see if it just got buried, but it wasn't.

You must've picked it up early, I've seen ones much worse than this. Anyway, the way I see it is that the power is being send TO the hard drive so I'd put it down to either a faulty connector or a faulty supply.

Should I be worried about my PSU?

yes. you should voltage read that connector at 12V and all the other lines as well...

At this point it's kinda hard to say. It's a 50/50 thing. It might be the PSU sending more than it should or it could be a faulty cable. I'm not saying you should worry about it every time you turn your PC on but it's something to keep in mind if you don't do something with it. You could always contact CM and see what they say.

oh ok. I don't have any voltage reader lying around. I'll just try to contact CM for it.

Damn. I hope it's not a really bad PSU. I'll try to contact CM to maybe get an RMA or some support.
