I need to build a 4k pc with a budget of max $3k(if something is worth i will increase a little). T'm thinking of getting the i&-5930 processor and 2 nvidia 980s; the rest im unsure of what to get and would appreciate some help/build suggestions. Thank you

Do you need any perephials etc? Also, does the Monitor has to be included in the buget?

the only peripheral that is included in the price is probably the monitor, so far i'm thinking of the asus PB287Q (i can push the price a little bit since the monitor is a bit pricey).

what are you using the pc for?

Mainly gaming.

In all honesty i think you should wait for better gpu's before you go into 4k gaming but if you are set on it and you are using it for gaming you should go with z97 instead of an x99 setup with DD4 as you will not see any advantage in games. Also with the money to save you can beef the computer up even more.

The Swiftech cooler is for watercooling the system in the future, this is also why I went for refference cards.

I can say that the system I suggested will run 4K just fine, and yes it is more pricey than lets say if you were to build a 4K system in two years, is this a big deal? No. Well actually it depends but since the OP can spend 3K on a system it shouldn't be a problem.

The PSU is way too overkill. 700W is more than enough.

Fair point, to be honest ive not seen gaming at 4k yet so its hard to say.

That is true. It's just that the difference in prices is not that big and the budget allowed such PSU.

No need for anything over 700W as long as it's 80+ Platinum but I wouldn't risk it.

Even if you use LN2 to overclock CPU to 5GHZ and GPU's to 1.4GHZ 750 will be enough.

It's not worth the extra 70 dollars IMO.

Also X99 Does have advantage at high resolution and ( okay I hate this word but ) 'Furtureproofness.'

Eventually DDR4 will become cheaper than DDR3 so you pay a little more now to pay a little less for later upgrades.

Off-topic:

Until Skylake is out, there'll always be the z97 vs x99 war and it just doesn't make sense to me.

Both are awesome and have specific target users which allows for many options when building a PC.

On a tight budget, G3258/4690k anytime. On a higher budget, 4790k/5820k, depending on personal preference. On a professional/enthusiast (read limitless) budget, x99 or x79, depending on personal preference.

I won't pay the premium for a X99 build now because I need faster cores more than I need more cores and I probably won't even notice the advantages of DDR4 whilst I'm using the computer.

I buy a new rig every 6~7 years and, from personal experience, it works pretty good so I'm sure I (or anyone) will be fine with a Devil's Canyon OR Haswell-E in many years to come.

IMO, in terms of "futureproofness", it depends on how often you want to upgrade your computer, not how good it is today. If you don't want to upgrade it at all, both z97 and x99 will "last" for pretty much the same amount of time whereas if you want to upgrade every GPU generation or so x99 might be better but not by much.

this build seems better for me 1 physic gpu card wit great performance.

and for lesser bucks, also wait for the new series from amd to release and then you will get a power beast.

so far this is what i recommend the gpu will score 3 to 5 fps less in games but you also save 200$ ;)

That's the beauty of the swiftech cooler. It's an aio so its a plug and play cooler ,about as easy to install and use as any air cooler. Once you get more into it you can easaly expand it with some gpu watercooling because it support that. You can after building the system ask for reccomendations in the water cooling section of the forum.

The Asrock X99 Extreme 3 only has 4 ram slots compare to 8 slots on the other boards. Other X99 board with just 4 slots is the Gigabyte UD3.

X99 MicroATX are only 4 slots due to its size.
