I have a 120gb samsung evo in my computer and it has some issues. It will go to 100% activity according to task manager, and then programs like chrome will stop working until the activity goes lower. Also sometimes it doesn't boot into windows and i have to restart the computer. I've decide to send it back for a warranty replacement but in the mean time I'm going to replace it with a spare drive I have.

So the actual question: What is the best way to clone my ssd on to another drive so that I can boot from it until I get a replacement ssd.

There are several drive cloning softwares online, some of which are free. If you have a laptop or a single sata cable, you will need to get an adapter. If you have a free sata cable just plug it in and go. I used Todo US when I upgraded my laptop to an SSD.

I've built 3 PC's, but none for myself... In fact, I'm using an iMac that my dad bought for me as my desktop. Awkward...

Please don't say "SSD drive." By doing so, you are literally saying "Solid State Drive Drive" and causing my brain cells to commit suicide. The same applies to HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express).

Samsung has their magician software which has cloning feature on that. I haven't used it but you could try that.

It only works if you are cloning to the ssd, not from the ssd.

Don't Clone, Fresh Install, end of story, not arguable.

What's wrong with cloning?

i have used macrium reflect

looks good so far, I'll try it out. I used shadowcopy and it seems to work almost completely. It copied most of the files but for about 30 it had to skip. Normally I wouldn't care and just copy them manually, but these were windows files and I have no idea what they did or where to find them so I'm not sure if it's ok that I don't have it. I guess this weekend I could just try booting to that drive and see if it works or not.
