DAC AMP around $100

Simply Tom

I am currently using my old astro mix amp but it has recently started sending a static noise though my headphones so I am looking for a replacement. I need a DAC and AMP, preferably a combo unit, that can take in multiple inputs and output them at the same time similar to how the mix amp works. I am using sennheiser HD 518 headphones.

I don't really know enough about audio equipment. I would like to stay around $100.

Thank you for any advice.

Edit: What I need it for mainly is multiple inputs to my headphones. I use the mix amp to play console and pc though headphones at the same time. I have my game console plugged into one of my monitors then the audio out from the monitor int the mix amp, so I can use mumble and play console. I like the amp for volume control.

You dont even need an amp for 518s

FiiO E09K is a nice amplifier with nice I/O but there is no reason to buy one for the HD518  :\

EDIT: Just use the Output from the back of your motherboard and you'll be ok.

I need something that can play multiple inputs at same time, i.e. computer usb + optical.

That would be a mixer, though I've never heard of a mixer with digital inputs. Best option I think is to get a cheap optical input for your PC, and adjust volumes via Windows.

The monitor output is 3.5mm. Is there a way to input it into my pc?

Assuming you have a free input on your PC, yes! Try using the Blue "Line In" port on the back panel of your mobo, if there's anything wrong with it, try the pink mic port right next to it.

In windows, go to the recording devices, right click on the Line In (or mic depending on which you use), click properties, go to the Listen tab, check the box next to "Listen to this device" - You can then adjust the volume as needed with the regular volume sliders in the "mixer" when you click on the speaker in the notification area.

Get an 3.5mm male to male audio jack and put in on your line in or mic input and to the monitor output:)

I

offtopic: Mic and line in have the same input impedance for example in modern intel onboard sound cards ? I remembere when i was on high school they said they had because microphone has different impetance from a vinyl or cassete player for example. Does the sound card change the characteristics of each port according to what you choose when it pop up the selection window?
