Not sure what happened in Linus' video - nothing adds up.

I got my Strix today - the values in the doc sheet are not possible.  Neither the core voltage nor boost clock values can be entered into GPUTweak - they're both capped lower.  The max boost clock I can enter is 1400, not 1450.  The core voltage cap is 30mv lower than what they said they used.

Then the results they got with the card are nowhere near where other Strix cards came in - they were far lower.  And it failed one of the benchmark tests completely, getting half the score of a 770.

Anyone else got a Strix 970, what are you overclocks like?

Not really sure what to recommend but 1,400MHz is one hell of a GPU clock speed mate :)

that is because of nvidia overclocking algorithm a put it in kboost and then put the max volts put max powerlimit and put the sliders up slightly and continue they are offset no actual speeds go into gpu-z for actual speeds

In the doc they are actual speeds, it explicitly states that.

Use MSI afterburn it should allow for further OC i got my MSI to 1495 core clock without touching the voltage and i dont go above 75 degrees.

yea that is because they are using the gpuz speeds which is what it oc's to so just max powerlimit and voltage anput the slider at 100mhz just trust me

Still, the values shown in the doc cannot be applied to this card.  I think they got the numbers wrong.

no they didint those are the actual core not  offset which you are looking at

Look.  Quoting from the document:

"Numbers used are actuals instead of offset, used GPU Tweak instead of afterburner"

In GPU Tweak it is not possible to enter any of these values, Kboost enabled or not.

And I still don't know why their sample card failed the Tesselation test so badly.

I am stuck at 1414 boost clock for the exact same card. So in afterburner you added +242 to core?

My Strix 970 is stable at 1504 - probably higher.  Still tweaking.

tht is a great oc when you hit benchmarks what speed does it go to or lower to

I have the MSI Gaming OC edition which comes with 1140 core and 1279 boost

I over clocked it with the following settings using MSi afterburner (it probably can go futher but this is my first time over clocking and im happy)

Core Voltage: default locked

power limit: 110%

core clock: +175 (new value 1503Mhz)

memory clock: +300 (new value 3800Mhz)

Fan: Auto

Temp never goes above 77

Wasn't stable at 1504 after a longer duration.  1454 however is.  Lowest is 1113Mhz, under decent load it stays at 1454.

VRAM not stable 8GHz on mine, that has to stay at 7350.

Hmm. Just checking on the website there is only 1 Gaming 4G card and your default clocks are of OC mode, mine of Gaming mode. The 4G Lite Edition has very low clocks so thats def not mine. The other 3 are not Gaming series cards. Also the box does say OC Edition for me.

I tried to changing in the MSI gaming app but the stock clocks are the same as gaming mode. Did you use MSI app or those clocks came right out of the box?

Yea, I'll mess around with Kboost at some point in the future.

Absolutely no need at the moment, it's destroying everything even with DSR enabled.

good t least it is resolved
