HTML5 vs Adobe Flash Player

Here are the two screenshots of last week's WAN show. The first one is HTML5 player on Google Chrome and the second one is Adobe Flash Player on Mozilla Firefox. You will notice that the colour is way off on HTML5 on Google Chrome when compared to Adobe Flash Player on Mozilla Firefox

Flash is the biggest piece of garbage ever forced onto us. It performs terrible, it crashes constantly and it's a forsaken plugin. I use vlc to watch youtube, so I really don't care...

 

By the way it's probably because flash recognizes driver video settings, so if you have the "use driver settings" option checked under colours that's what's making the difference, not flash itself.

But come on, I will not sacrifise video quality even though it's garbage.

Different video codec will result in different image quality and colors.

Flash uses it's own same for HTML5.

 

Flash is not garbage when coded properly. That's like me saying C++ is garbage because malware is done with it, or unoptimized games or programs. That is just silly.

HTML5 can be made just as horrible.

 

And I don't know what people do, but I never had Flash crash on me on an often basis. All I can think about is that Chrome does a horrible job at working with plug-ins.

 

Flash was my first programming language when I was a kid. I started with Flash 4. I know all the ins and outs of that language.

It used to happen on  daily basis to me. Now I just disabled it in my browser settings. Admittedly some services like twitch seem to be more stable than youtube in this regard, but either way now I completely switched to vlc and downloading the video if I want to see it at higher than 720p.

Sounds to be the problem is the web browser, or on your side. (GPU drivers, sound card drivers, maybe?). Definitely something to look into.

It happened both when I had an nvidia card and now that I have an amd one. Drivers don't seem to be it. Besides I always update them asap. It's not the sound card, if it were my screen wouldn't go crazy, would it? As for the browser, it happens in opera, firefox and chrome.

not that I know of, I don't even use adblock...

Well then I don't know what you are doing, because if it crashed that much, no one would get Flash. But people do, and most people don't have problems.

Also to consider..

Maybe some post processing done by the GPU video settings are done on one, but not the other, causing that..?
