I7-4790k cooling

Go to solution Solved by Shaqo_Wyn,

So I'm building a rig, and was wondering whether the 212 EVO from Cooler Master would be enough to keep an I7-4790k in optimal temp. range. (I'm talking about below 70 C, preferably below 60, while under heavy load, stock settings, no overclocking). Or should I get liquid cooling? The case would be a Fractal Design R4 window, again stock coolers and settings, no extras. Yet.

@stock? Yes. Aiming for a 4.8Ghz overclock? No. <-- NH-D15

Yes, I never get above 45 C when I encode videos on my 4790K using H105.

If the temperature inside the case is low enough it'll be alright. I have a 7850K which has a higher TDP, and it has a 4.4 GHz OC on it, and it only ever goes above 50°C when it's running OCCT or something like that. That said it does have an agressive fan curve. That's alright though because my case absorbs a lot of the noise. To be fair though if you are running an i7 you could probably afford something that'll keep it cold at a lower noise level like a nh-u14s. If you don't intend to OC the Hyper212 will serve you well enough though.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

That NH D15 looks pretty big, but I'm guessing it shouldn't be a problem with a mid-tower and an ATX mobo(Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5). Anyway, for now I'm aiming for stock settings. If I want to OC in the future, I'll check the options.
