The 3930k is better for semi-professional/professional grade work. Video, 3D, that sort of thing. You also get the more RAM from the X79 chipset. However, if you're not professional or even semi-professional I say the 4770k is just fine. Don't invest in an expensive 3930k, expensive MB, loads of RAM and such if you're not near the point of working in a paid environment. You can buy all the expensive stuff, hardware, cameras, speakers, sound cards and so on, but it's not going to get you a job anywhere, and it's not going to make your stuff look prettier.

If you're on the hobby level of 3D work and stuff I think the 4770k is great, two 780's is overkill IMO if you're not super-picky about your game performance. It's not going to give you super-fast rendering times or anything. Then you're better off investing in more RAM. For a workstation for 3D, video editing and so on the Titan is a better choice I think.

Current build: Antec P180, Asus P8Z68 Pro, Intel i5-2500k, Asus GTX 570 2GB, Patriot 16GB 1600MHz, Corsair HX 650W.

you don't have to change the cpu because it'll perform good

if you'r doing a lot of videos 3930k will do better than 3770k but it'll cost you +400$

but with photos and stuff they'r almost the same

so it's all you'r decision

Get a Samsung 840 120GB for the os/applications and use the Samsung 840 Pro 128GB as a scratch disk.

Why not go for 32gigs of ram?
