Corsair CX430M w/ r9 270x

FuzzyYellow

Hey guys, i am looking at getting a graphics card within the next month or so. I was looking at the r9 270, but right now the 270x is cheaper than the 270. Can i run a 270x with my 430w psu? Other specs are in my sig.

I'd say you're probably okay, but you might cut it a bit close. I'd up to at least 500.

I am stretching to be able to afford the gpu, i can't afford to spend another $50 on a new power supply.

I'm sure it'll be fine for now, but your next upgrade should be a PSU.

Most R9 270x use two 6pin conectors and your CX430 only have a 4+2 (6pin) connector, so if you dont want to buy a new powersupply get a R9 270.

Yes, but it depends on circumstances. And if you really don't need that Pentium at 4.8 Ghz let it a 4.2 Ghz when you get your GPU.

Ok, so I did a little more digging, and found out that that my power supply provides 336w on the 12 volt rail, an outervisionrecommends 338w with my cpu overclocked. So I think I am fairly safe.

I will have to use a molex to 6 pin adapter to give the gpu the other 6 pin.

Actually, my psu has a single 6+2 pin (so an 8 pin), and most 270x's have 2 6 pins. ;)

Yeah the 6pin to molex would do the trick to run the 270x with your current PSU.
