i5-4670K overclock

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

what cooler do u suggest??

For extreme overclocking? You will need either LN2 or a phase-change cooler or a thermoelectric cooling CPU block.

For non extreme overclocking get an H105 or a kraken x61 if your case supports dual 140mm rads.

This depends on how lucky you get with your CPU. Every one is different, nobody can tell you what you will get.

Also btw you will not be anywhere near 'extreme overclocking' with an H100i.

The thing is theres no guarantee for any kind of overclock. Some processors can't handle any kind of overclock even if they are unlocked, they just become unstable.

So really you will never know what it will be.

Well, I haven't pushed my chip to it's limits yet but mine is stable at 4.3 GHz and 1.25V  My best guess is that I could probably reach 4.4 or 4.5 before I overwhelm my cooling.

With you would probably be able to go a little higher than my chip before cooling becomes an issue, but I can't say for certain.  This is for you to find out for yourself.

You're welcome.

The H105 is like the H100i but thicker, so it gives lower temperatures for better overclocking.

It is also a lot easier to get set up since it doesn't have all the trouble that comes with corsair link.

good luck on your build ;)

Stay away from the H100i.  It has a terrible problem with mounting and it is not guaranteed to work for everyone out of the box without modifications.  Go for the H105 or Cooler Master Seidon 240M on Newegg.com($60).
