how long should custom loop bleed?

and is it required?

Its nice to have no bubbles in a loop(other than the reservoir), its quieter and you will see slight performance gains. It should take no longer than a week(unless if its a Thermaltake Bigwater 760 pro, then it will never bleed).

You don't leave it to bleed. If you do that you might kill your pump. You need to be there refilling the res, tilting the case and changing pump speeds,

Bleed until the bubbles leave the pipes. One or two air bubbles won't kill your system but having loads isn't good for it.

And for a leak test and stuff, run it for a full 24 hours. That would seem to be a pretty good indicator to me.

If one of them gets stuck in the block, that could really screw your day up.

If you have a bubble in you CPU or GPU block, you will end up with hot spots. In the case the CPU block, and how you've mounted it, this can cause instability or worse.
