Intermittent connection issues between PC and router?

giff74

Afternoon all!

So I'm relatively new to building computers and monkeying around with hardware. I built my first gaming rig several weeks and everything seems to be working very well, aside from the wi-fi.

I am using an Asus PCE-N15 wi-fi adapter. My router/modem is an Arris DG860, which is technically owned by Time Warner.

So, in relationship to my gaming rig my internet speed is great on a speed test; 22x2, eh on a speed test; 4x.5 and can't connect.

As best I can tell everything is plugged correctly and secure. My drivers also appear up to date. The computer is approximately eighteen feet from the router and the only thing in the way is the LED TV. I feel like the issue is computer side as all the other electronics in the house (Xbox, Xbox One, PS3, laptops and tablets) are not experience these outages.

As mentioned above, I am far from being an expert so I appreciate any sincere attempts to help. If this should have been posted in the help forum I would appreciate a mod moving it.

Thanks ahead of time,

Giff

Why not just run a cable if it is only 18ft?
