Can I buy steam cards from abroad and use them at home?

My parents are going on holiday and I was wondering if they could buy steam gift cards from there and bring them home (UK) and I can use them for my account? Will that work?

Yep.  as long as theyre activated at the store (which happens at the register automatically) you should be able to use them.

And will they turn into pounds if they are in a different currency or will my store turn into dollars or Euros? depending on what card I have?
