It's a good cooler. Best in terms of performance is the Noctua NH-D15, but it's massive.

I want an air cooler, becuase it is my first build and I do not have enough experience to be comfortable with water cooling. The CPU is an Intel I7-4790K, and I don't know if this matters but I plan on having two 970s in SLI.

The air cooler I picked is the: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3

Is this good? How does it compare to the Noctua coolers?

That cooler can have issues with high profile RAM like corsair vengeance platinum. The Noctua NH-D15 is designed to work around this and the NH-D15 is one of the best if not the best air cooler you can get
