So i've started to overclocking my new 4690k, and I've gotten to 4.7GHz at 1.275 volts. I'd like to push it to 4.8 or 4.9, but what is the higest voltage I should go to on a 24/7 oc? My temps are still not even pushing 65C so i'm not concerned about that.

 

Specs:

ASUS Z97-A

Corsair CX500M

4690k 

Seidon 240M

The voltage limit really depends on the temps you are getting. If you are getting such low temps then you can push for a higher voltage just fine.

Also it isn't really accurate to guess how hot your CPU would get at certain voltages, just keep working on it until you get the speed you need, if you can get it while maintaining good temps.

 

As long as your CPU is below or some where around 80C then there should be no problem.

You've got a very nice chip there.  Anything below 1.3V and 80C is fine.  Set up an adaptive overclock with your manual settings (once you establish a stable overclock) and you should see no appreciable decrease in your CPU's lifespan.

Do 1.3V and see what's the highest clock speed you can get while staying stable and under 75-80C

4.7 @ 1.275 is a great overclock already.

If you must push futher go ahead and set 1.35v core and 2.0 input voltage. Leave cache at 3.8 @1.150v.

Then try 4.8 if its stable try to slowly

lowering vcore .020v and stress testing. After core is dialed in try dropping input voltage .50v at a time. It will probably need 1.9 or 1.95 input at least.

Pro tip: Only change 1 thing at a time and re stress test.

I would try to stay at or under 1.35v for everday use.
