hi there,

i have msi gaming 5 motherboard and intel core i5 4690k cpu

my question is, my cpu's stock speed is 3.5ghz and can be OCed with oc geunie up to 4.2ghz easly. but I have this game that needs me to put the core speed to 4.6ghz to get decent fps. normally when I don't play that particular game I take the speed down to 3.5ghz and then reduce the voltage to 1.18 which is the default.

a friend of mine told me that he isn't sure that which is better, keeping it at 4.6ghz with 1.3v all the time or reducing it to 3.5 with 1.2ish voltages while the extra power isn't needed.

I have Corsair H75 cpu cooler, and bunch of other Corsair SP120s so heat is not a problem at all. it barely reaches to 55 degrees celcius.

please advice.

thanks.

If it's not a huge hassle, I wouldn't see why not.

As long as it's stable and the temps are fine, I would just leave it cranked up all the time.
