i5 4690k Memory support?

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

You can use speeds higher than 1600, they will all just run at 1600 unless you enable XMP memory profiles in your motherboard BIOS.

Hey All,

I have been on PC Part Picker recently and it doesn't stop me from selecting ram at hiegher speeds than DDR3 - 1600, but acording to Intel, it only supports 1333 and 1600. http://ark.intel.com/products/80811/Intel-Core-i5-4690K-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz

Am i missing something? Can i use DDR3 1866?

Thanks :)

Yes, DDR3-1600 is the maximum OFFICIALLY supported memory speed. To go faster you'll need to go into the BIOS and manually set it to 1866.

I have DDR3-1866 in my system which is a Z68 chipset and a Core i3-2120 and works fine.
