Amazon shipping to Australia

Hey Guys, being that i live in australia, computer parts here are super expensive, for example the msi gtx 970 is 359.99 on amazon, but $520 at pc case gear here in australia, so i was wondering, would it be better to order all the pc parts off amazon and pay more shipping and wait a bit longer, but probably save money in the long run. or just pay the extra $160 and get it shipped for $30 and wait a week instead of 3-4.

Also, if you have ordered pc parts off of amazon and you live in australia, was shipping super expensive?

not sure if this thread is in the right place, so i can move it if you need.

Not everything ships to Australia, be aware of that.

Edit: I got my K70 from Amazon and shipping + tax combined was $30.

Shipping isn't the problem, the tax and customs charges are. You'll end up paying a lot more if you're ordering it from abroad.

Not only this, but not all companies have global warranties.

After a little research, importing any computer parts will have a minimum of 10% sales tax and $40 duties added on. That, along with the shipping will end up costing you more I think.

Some things like cases have an additional 5% import duties to be paid, and if the value of components is over $1000, the rates seem to increase significantly.

You can get the Gainward model from MSY for $419 or the EVGA for $469. Probably cheaper than getting it shipped from the states.

What about the whole under $1,000 thing? Does that not apply to Computer hardware?

You will pay customs duties and import taxes on imports valued over $1000

Not all products come with international warranties and you will have to pay for shipping to and from them - normally overseas. Buying locally means you deal with something that has a physical presence here that is bound by the consumer law here.

Not a problem in Australia. Custom's charges don't apply on items with a declared value of less than $1000.

@officiallyasimulator Sometime it works in your favour, especially if you go with someone like EVGA who have great after sales support. I remember when buying GTX 780Tis, it cost me less to buy it on Amazon and pay for super express shipping (delivered in 3 days to rural Queensland) than it would be to buy it locally. On other things, especially things such as cases and monitors, the shipping is just too expensive.
