(Note that this is being typed out on my phone so forgive me if anything gets autocorrected)

So I'm building my first computer and I've made a lot of choices to improve it's speed and efficiency, and now that I'm about to put it together I have a question regarding ssd and hdd

So I was recently watching Linus' video about building a computer and he mentioned something about using the ssd as a cache for the HDD and I was just curious what that meant, and if it's something I should look into- I want my Ssd to be my boot drive at the same time if so an explanation would be great and if caching the ssd means better performance from the hdd then I would appreciate a little help on that too, mobo is asrock Z97 extreme4 if that helps!

Not sure but he could have been talking about hybrid drives where you get an SSD with a mechanical drive in one in a single casing.

I'd just stick to using the SSD as the boot drive with all applications that run on start up.

he was probably talking about SSHD's but the best solution is to use an SSD for programs and the os and all other storage like music videos and games on a HDD
