Hi guys,

Just looking for some confirmation if this build is balanced. (Yes the PSU is a bit overkill but I might want to upgrade to a second 770 later and it's red)

AX760

ASUS Maximus Hero VI

i5 4670K

8GB G Skill 2133MHz CL11 RAM

MSi GTX 770 Gaming

Samsung 840 250GB

H110

I'm planning a pretty aggressive OC on the CPU to maybe 4.5 or 4.6 (achievable?) therefore the higher tier MOBO.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

You really don't need the extra RAM speed

At my local store it costs like 5 euros more so why not :3

Bring down the ram to 1600mhz and get the 840 pro. The pro is faster and I dont hear a lot of people recommending the 840. Or if you can find an 830 for a good price. And a 4.5 or 4.6 is definitely achievable. I'm not so sure on the mobo, I dont think you really need that but I'm sure someone else will mention something about it

Plz read this. I dont think that the 4670k supports 2133mhz ram. I believe that it only supports memory up to 1600mhz. So pleeeaaasee be careful about that!

it can go with faster ram , tho you're going to void your warranty on your cpu, since the memory controller doesn't support faster then 1600mhz ram.

@op check if there's ssd's with a better prics vs gb ratio where you live that are good/reliable. paying for a faster ssd won't be noticed except in benchmarks.

many of the overviews of haswells say that the memory controller is beast/ stronger then the one in ivy bridge. it might void the warranty but i think higher speed ram still works with the cpu.

The pro is pretty much the same as the normal samsung 840 at a higher price in this case. I only really recommend getting the pro if you're using it as a dedicated scratch disk or editing since the increased random write speeds would help or if you have money to blow. Random read speed is more important since people write to ssd's a lot less and the random read speeds of both the normal 840 and pro are very close.
