Good day forum

I am looking to upgrade my computer to be able to run GTA V comfortably when it is released. I don't have huge amounts of money so the most cost effective option will be greatly appreciated. Currently in my system I have :

GTX 550ti

Intel 2500k 3.3GHZ cpu

8gb RAM

500gb HDD

800W PSU

no sure what mobo

What would be the most effective way to upgrade taking into account I am short on cash

Thanks forum!

Based on what you've posted, I would definitely upgrade your graphics card (priority) as well as an aftermarket cooler so you can overclock your 2500k.

Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow; Motherboard: MSI ZZ490 Gaming Edge; CPU: i7 10700K @ 5.1GHz; Cooler: Noctua NHD15S Chromax; RAM: Corsair LPX DDR4 32GB 3200MHz; Graphics Card: Asus RTX 3080 TUF; Power: EVGA SuperNova 750G2; Storage: 2 x Seagate Barracuda 1TB; Crucial M500 240GB & MX100 512GB; Keyboard: Logitech G710+; Mouse: Logitech G502; Headphones / Amp: HiFiMan Sundara Mayflower Objective 2; Monitor: Asus VG27AQ

"short on cash"

Shoulda just told us the budget, not just "I don't have huge amounts of money"

Could be 100 or 500.

Upgrade your GPU definitely.

Yeah get a new graphics card, although I can't see how GTA V would be a very demanding game...

If you want a great all-round upgrade, I'd get a SSD for faster load times, but otherwise if I were to spend all the money on a GPU I'd get a 970. OCing it shouldn't be a problem with your PSU

Call it about 300-400 dollars

A new graphics card will provide the best gaming performance upgrade. With that money I would get a 970.

Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow; Motherboard: MSI ZZ490 Gaming Edge; CPU: i7 10700K @ 5.1GHz; Cooler: Noctua NHD15S Chromax; RAM: Corsair LPX DDR4 32GB 3200MHz; Graphics Card: Asus RTX 3080 TUF; Power: EVGA SuperNova 750G2; Storage: 2 x Seagate Barracuda 1TB; Crucial M500 240GB & MX100 512GB; Keyboard: Logitech G710+; Mouse: Logitech G502; Headphones / Amp: HiFiMan Sundara Mayflower Objective 2; Monitor: Asus VG27AQ

OP, this would be the most cost effective upgrade for gaming...with that CPU cooler you'll be able to overclock your CPU to about 4.0 to 4.4ghz that will give a nice boost to it and then you come in with a very powerful 4GB GPU:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  ($28.98 @ OutletPC)

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB ACX 2.0 Video Card  ($329.99 @ Amazon)

Total: $358.97

Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

This is assuming you have a motherboard that supports overclocking, you should double check on that.

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |
| Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 3 VR
