I am up at my parents and the Wireless is at 50mbps and wired is at 9mbps. I have tried different cables, driver updates, and everything I can think of. I need some help.

 

Router is linksys EA2700

Have you tried reinstalling your motherboard LAN drivers?

No I have not. I have tried hard wire connection on the laptop and it did not change. 

Try reinstalling the drives, and maybe a different cable, or router.

It may just be that the router is wonky, or maybe someone else happened to be using the network at the time you were doing your test?

I have tried reinstalling the drive on the desktop. no difference. I have tried drifferent cables between 3 different devices. the router I have checked the firmware it is up to date. no one else is using the internet except me.

How are you checking the speed? speedtest.net? or looking at the connection speed

connection speed isn't always reliable.

speedtest.net and the router has a speed test in it as well.

Try going straight from his modem to your computer to rule out any router issues.  The downside is that you'll be taking his network down long enough to check.
