Is jailbraeaking safe?

Hi,

So my iPod is pretty slow nowadays (4th gen), and I don't really have any uses for it due to locked down iOS. I seem to remember trying (then failing) to do a jailbreak a few years back, which resulted in bricking the iPod (I think). But, then I recovered it on iTunes somehow. I'm thinking of trying again with this:

Can I easily reset my iPod if I fail to do it for some reason?

Its pretty safe in my experience. It takes a lot of bad luck to brick an apple device.

I once rendered my ipod touch 2nd gen useless after an improper attemp but I easily recovered it through itunes.

I have also attempted several jailbreaks on multiple iphone 4/4s and the failed ones are easily restorable through itunes.

I've jailbroken tons of devices and never had any real problems, I would say just do it if you want, it adds so much cusomisability to Stock iOS and is quite fun to mess with if you like messing with stuff like that :)

My Current Build:

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz 1.11V, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, Asrock Z77 Extreme4, Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Asus GTX 760 DCII Overclocked, Corsair CX600M

I've been jailbreaking since iOS 2.1.1 on my iPod touch 1g. If there was ever a time when jailbreaking wasn't 100% safe, it would have been then.

Today, it's really as easy as clicking a few buttons and just reading the on-screen instructions.

As for actually jailbreaking your iPod, what version of iOS are you running?

Easiest way to restore is to put your device in DFU mode, connect to computer, open itunes and let it download the firmware. Downside is it will flash the latest firmware to your device.

The easiest jailbreak I have ever done was on my ipod touch 2nd gen running 3.1.3. It was literally just one click, thanks to spirit.

iOS 6.1.6 is the most updated iOS you can install on the IPod 4G and it already has a jailbreak method so there isn't really a need to worry about ITunes updating your device when you restore :)
