Hello ltt users!

Rig before initial upgrade:

  • Intel Core i7-2600k
  • Thermalright Silver Arrow Cooler
  • Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD5-B3
  • Vertex 3 SSD (SATA3 port)
  • 16GB 1333 RAM
  • PCIe x1 Wi-Fi: WDN4800
  • BenQ GW2450HM 1920x1080
  • Gigabyte GTX 670 2GB

Vertex 3 at this point showed me about 400MB/s

In September 2014, i decided to buy Plextor M6e 512GB PCIe SSD as well buy new lg 25um65 (seen it on linus' videos)

And here goes my problems:

Plextor SSD runs at x1 speed(installed it in 2nd PCIe x16), even if MB's specs says it will run at x8, while SSD max speed is x4 (Benchmarks shows me 300-350MB/s on average, but specs says ≈750MB/s)

I got some drop in average FPS.

I didn't tested how big impact giving me plextor ssd for fps part :)

Currently i want to:

1) Buy GTX 780, something like gigabyte's GHZ edition, because i playing eve online with 10 windows(multiboxing purpose)

2) Upgrade motherboard and/org CPU to fix plextor's speed

For MB/CPU upgrade i choose:

 - Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming GT

 - Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz

Slightly expensive for my current budget, that's why i came here.

I would like to get some advices about:

 - GTX 780 on my current rig(2600k + z68x) performance? (then i can delay buying mb/cpu for 2-3 months)

 - Fixing PCIe SSD speed while keeping my cpu? (got shiny awesome cpu cooler, that i dont want to sell because of LGA1150 socket)

Thank you very much.

P.S. I highly prefer Intel CPU, nVidia GPU as well as Gigabyte MB because i do have Macintosh installed here (Hackintosh :))

i think your cpu may bottleneck the 780 for now but when u upgrade it will work well :)  make sure u get the reference 780 or the hackintosh will not work.!!

i think that that your current CPU will botleneck the GTX 780 all the day long...

I think that you did right choosing an i7 4790k , (i have 1 on my personal build) , its a great CPU , you can overclock it .... mind is clocked at 4.7Ghz on an AIO liquid cooler
