Now, comcast has extended their double speed area.

Customers with 25Mb/s get 50. Ones with 50 get 105 and ones with 105 get 150.

This was only Kansas for a while and when they announced it, nothing changed.

Now we are feeling the effects!

We pay for the 25Mb/s package and now get 60Mb/s!

The only reason why I am posting this is because NorCal just got it!

The changes impact all California customers (except those in Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley, Isleton, Lodi and Rio Vista), as well as those in the Olathe, KS, Independence, MO, and Houston, TX markets.

Still waiting it to happen in my area....

Also, that is with Ethernet. My router is a peice of shit and I only get 25Mb/s out of the 60. (At best)

With random ping spikes too. (56ms to 560ms)

Is that the one that comes with the bundle? Or the 25Mb/s "Performance" package?

Performance starter, it was suppose to be the Performance package(25 MB/s) but the technician who set up the internet up set it to 7MB/s for some unknown reason.

No, i use Wifi. I can't use Ethernet because the router is another room. I use this Modem http://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/cable-modems-routers/CMD31T.aspx and this router http://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/wifi-routers/WNDR3400.aspx

No, I was saying that my test was with Ethernet.

Gee. now if only they would extend their actual coverage area. If comcast changes it's tune (unlikely) I might consider them over century links slow ass 10MBps (or so they claim, I only ever get 1MBps on anything I do)

Are you sure your plan isn't 10Mb?

Because Centurylink in my area offers 12Mb as the best service, technically they'll have fiber optic soon but for now 12Mb is the best they offer.

Not sure of the difference, all I know is I download about (on steam) 2gb an hour ROUGHLY.

Mb is Megabit, MB is Megabyte.

10Mb is 1.25MB.

80Mb is 10MB.

I never had comcast, and from what I've heard about them I don't think I ever want it.

Yeah well we don't all live in Kansas where everybody seems to be rolling out fiber.

About four or five months ago (I'm in California) I got my speed doubled from 50 to 100, will I now be at 150?  Or did I get it early?

No. You have 105Mb/s still.

They just switched NorCal.

What was it about fiber in the US? Something about when cable companies saw Chatanooga get it, they pushed to have it outlawed elsewhere?

and for what it's worth, Kansas is an awful place to live overall.

why do so many good cases only come in black and white

Oh, well then I guess I get around 1.25MB.

Hard to tell when the old lady on their customer service doesn't know the difference and says "megabyte"
