Hello, I have an old notebook that I need to copy about 200GB from to my PC. First I wanted to just connect the drive to my pc, but it doesn't have standard SATA connectors. I tried doing it over a cable, but with the "huge" speed of 5MB/s it would take at least 10h.

Any ideas how to do it fast and easy?

Ethernet transfer between the computers?

That's what I meant by network transfer, 5MB/s, by WiFi it was about 500kB/s.

Probably take the hard drive to another PC & then slave it & then doing the transfer..

What do you mean by slaving?

just connect Laptop HDD as a second hard drive & boot from the OS from PC hdd as primary,

usually laptop hdd needs a separate bracket for standard sata/power connection get this from a local IT store & use it, it's going to take time but , it's worth the transfer rate,

Details separate people.

There aren't really any IT stores around :D it's got a strange drop-in mount.

A couple of large USB sticks?  That should double or even triple the speed you're getting now.  If the HDD can handle it, maybe do a part via ethernet and a part via USB at the same time

Do keep in mind that the 5MB/s may only be temporary.  If you need to copy lots of small files, the transfer is slower.  It may pick up speed once you get to larger files.
