Hello LinusTechTips community,

I want to built my first PC, searched for components and have now a "final" list.

But maybe some parts have a bad price-performance ratio/ a bottleneck would exist in this built.

Price range is about $1000.

Note: I do not want to overclock and already have Harddrive/SSD/OS

The Corsair H100i is a waste of money if you're not going to overclock. And the EVGA ACX cooler is not particularly good, you might want to consider a different model of the GTX 970. The Corsair RM power supply isn't that good either, certainly not worth $98.

If you're not going to overclock, that H100i is a complete waste of money TBH. You can used that saved almost $100 to get a better GPU. Also, you can get a much better power supply for that price, I would suggest the EVGA 750 G2.

Intel Core i7-5820K (4.4 GHz) | Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB  | 2x 360mm Custom Loop (Noctua iPPC) | ASRock X99 Extreme6 | Samsung 840 EVO 250GB | Fractal Design Define S | Corsair HX750 | Windows 10 | Corsair M65 RGB PRO | Corsair K70 RGB LUX (CherryMX Brown) | Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro & Creative Sound Blaster Z | Nexus 6P (32GB Aluminium) | Check out my setup: Project Kalte Here!

Thanks for the quick reply Sakkura, i will look for another cooler for the CPU.

The problem with the GPU is, that the Maximum GPU Length is 290mm and the Maximum CPU Cooler Height is 120mm.

Other GTX 970 like the twin Frozr or the STRIX are simply too big for this case.

Have you any recommendations for a PSU?

No problem. sorry to sound rude in my first post. A great all-around excellent performing CPU cooler for ~$30 USD is the CM Hyper 212 EVO if you were looking for one. Also, now that I think about it, you could go with a lower-wattage version of that PSU I recommend, you certainly won't need 750 Watts. 600 watts should save you a couple of bucks and fare you well.

You can get a Corsair HX650 cheaper than their RM550, which is just baffling. The HX650 is better in every single way. Better manufacturer (Seasonic instead of CWT), better capacitors, higher wattage and amperage ratings...

You can also go cheaper, $10 less gets you a Seasonic G550, same platform the HX650 is based on. Or another $10 off for a Rosewill Capstone 550M, on a different but still very high quality Super Flower design.

Thanks for the cooler, but it looks like that the cooler is 159mm high. I do not know if the CPU cooler height is equal to the maximal height for the GPU, but if yes, it will not fit.

Okay, 600 Watts! :)

Okay, it seems like the Seasonic is the better choice, thanks!

Thanks for your part list Manny Calavera!

The new part selection seems very good, thank you!

But I see a problem at the GPU, because it simply will not fit in the case.

You probably will want to OC as it's very fun. If done correctly

Thank you for your part selection list SimpleG!

I watched a few Overclocking Guides and came to the conclusion, that this "little" extra does not matter for me. Maybe i will change my mind in the future, but right now i do not plan to overclock ;)

Thank you for the CPU Cooler recommendation.

Thanks for your answer Recon97, but the problem is, that in the Carbite 240 only fits 120mm fans.

I could upgrade to a larger case, but i really like it.

air 540?

How about 780T from corsair. it's fantastic and sexy.

^ what he said or 760T

I guess you can easily install that in your case. Nzxt x61 does have 120mm fans. And I guess it's 240mm radiator. Anyway you can install it maybe not sure.
