So i got a new ssd, and when i went to install it, i noticed i only had 2 sata 3 cables, both of them plugged in. So im getting a sata 2 cable tomorrow (my mobo only supports 2 sata 3 connections), but my question is, should i put the sata 2 in my hard drive or in my dvd reader? I dont know what dvd reader i have but this is my hdd: wd 5000aaks. I dont know if the hdd only supports sata 3 or also sata 2 so thats why i came here to ask

i would put sata 3 on the ssds and sata two on the hdd and on the cd drive if you dont have another sata 2 than i would put the sata 1 on the cd drive

Put the sata 2 on the DVD drive, if you plug a dvd drive into sata 3 the speed increment is close to nothing.

All sata cables are the same. There are no SATA2 vs SATA3 cables. The only difference is that your PLUGS on your motherboard are sata 2 or 3. So it doesn't matter what cable you use where. Just make sure to plug the CD drive into the sata 2 port, and HDD+SSD in sata 3 ports.
