I am planning on upgrading my graphic's card from a Radeon HD 6870 to a R9 285. My current motherboard only has a PCI 2.0 slot and all of the new GPU's have PCI 3.0. Will the PCI 3.0 fit in a PCI 2.0?

 

If I decide to upgrade my mother board and CPU, is it better to get a FM2 CPU that has less cores than my current AM3 CPU? I noticed that the FM2 CPU's only have up to 4 cores so far where as my current CPU has 6 cores

PCIe 2.0 16x is more than enough right now

PCI-e 1.0 will still work, it will just be bottle-necked. 2.0 is still plenty enough, well, maybe not for a Titan Z or quadros, but enough for a R9 285.

i have a Pentium 4 @ 3.7 with hyper threading, its LGA 775. lol

i love lga775 its fav. i really want to make a server using lga775 :D how easy is it to overclock on 775 cus i know someone who has a pentium e6700? and its slow as hell so maybe i could overclock it?

pretty simple.. I'm thinking of making a guide as a lot of people have LGA775 systems and a lot more people on this forum have no idea that they're overclockable :P

lga775 is my favorite too :)

ill overclock it till death :D its a zoostorm which is 3 years old with a 5 year old cpu :P the beauty of prebuilt

e8400s are good and cheap  :)
