Play the old one, and then proceed to Blue Shift and Opposing Force and Decay if you want.

Just source is what you should play. It looks slightly better and has source engine. Only real difference.

if you're that guy that can't stand outdated graphics, I'd suggest the Black Mesa Source mod.  It's a remake of Half-Life 1, but with much better visuals.  But in your case, play either one.  They're literally the same game, just Half-Life: Source is based off of the Source engine.
