Need Advice On Upgrade

iplaybeats

Hey everyone  :) ,

I've been thinking about upgrading my current PC for a long time now, and since Haswell has came out I feel like now might be a good time. My budged is around $1300 and I'm from San Jose, CA.

Current build:

i7-920 4.0 Ghz (Watercooled)

Asus P6T

670 2GB FTW

12 GB Vengeance

AX850 PSU

128GB Samsung 830

1 TB HDD

Soundblaster Titanium HD

120x3 radiator mounted internally in Antec 900

My first question is would you guys upgrade from my current build to the new haswell chip? I will probably either buy another 670 FTW for sli, or sell my current one and get a 780 as well ( I only game on a single 120hz 1080 monitor) .

The new build I have in mind is this:

i7-4770k or i5-4670k

Asus Z78-PRO (Would you guys recommend any other motherboard? I plan on overclocking and I'm shallow so I like nice looking ones :P )

GTX 780

All other parts I will salvage from my current PC, including my watercool setup.

And for my second question, which case would you guys recommend? I prefer mid towers over full towers, but seeing that there aren't much mid towers that have native support for 120x3 radiators, I might just have to get a full tower. Right now my radiator is mounted internally in my antec 900 (i took out all the HDD cages and stuff to mount it vertically). Cases with a side window is a huge plus for me too.I have the 800D in mind, but if there is any other case that is cheaper and fits my needs, I'll be happy to get that instead.

I'd greatly appreciate any feedback and recommendations you guys would have for me.

The 780 will be an upgrade for sure, it's a good but expensive card.

If you wish to "upgrade" to Haswell, be sure to watercool again in case you intend to overclock, they get insanely hot. [Check TTL review]

Gigabyte has some very very nice looking boards. UD4H looks pornous.

I am using a Xigmatek Elysium. It's quite big, fits a 360x60mm push in the roof flawlessly, and with a few brackets I have mounted a 360x80mm Push+Pull in the front.

There is a window version with a 200mm fan in the window [i just exchanged the window with the fanholes for a solid window] but it has a shitload of room, and fits two 360 rads without modding. And it's around 200$. :)

Frost upon these cigarettes.... lipstick on the window pane...

Oops, I think I posted in the wrong section of the forums. Should be in "New Builds and Planning." If there are any mods reading this can you guys move it? Thanks!

If you're just gaming, and i5 can handle it, and two 670 will be more powerful than single 780, however more power consumed, and more heat comparing to single 670
