780ti Reference design dust removal

Hello all,

 

My asus gtx 780ti (reference design) has been idling at 65C and i am very worried about it, on load it goes upto 85. I have seen in forums that cleaning with compressed air is helpful, kindly point out "do's and dont's" when i'm cleaning my card with can of compressed air.

Keep the fan from spinning... You might wear down the bearing faster...

Take off the shroud, clean the dust, put shroud back on.

hold the fan (while blowing air) and be careful removing the dust cover.

 

while you're at it, change your thermal paste. make sure you clean it right before applying again.

I hear alcohol is ok. I use a solution that came with my paste.

mine idles at 52+ but thats because i have the fan set to 0 until the temps get to 50

I cleaned the card using compressed air, the temps are still around 65C, even @ 75% fan @ idle. I notice that the memory clock always run at 6998mhz, is this normal?

Maybe your thermal paste is dry , did you change it ?

COnsidering the 780Ti isn't even that old... I would assume it NOT to be thermal paste.

They have stickers n all on the screws that hold the pcb with the heatsink and fan, so i thought tearing it off will void my warranty. does it?
