So... I know that the same GPU can be SLI together no matter which manufacturer it come from (IE MSI GTX 780 Twinfrozr SLI with a ASUS GTX 780 DirectCU II etc), and if we have 2 version of the same card, IE GTX 780 3GB vs a GTX 780 6GB, they can still be SLI together but are treated as 2 3GB card. So my questions is... Can we SLI a 780 with a 780Ti? or any other GPU that's just of the same architecture such as a 770 with a 780?

Not possible I dont think, although you can use the lowerend card as a dedicated phys x card

It is possible hower it is a pain in the ass to get it working.

Really :P? how will the computer treat it then? as 2 780?

Yeah I was thinking this a while ago. Was considering getting a used GTX 590 and essentially having 4 way 580 SLI. Turns out you can't. Not easily at any rate.

Haha I suppose so. I already have a GTX 780 and looking at second hand shop around me they only sell 780Ti for some reason... and it's way cheaper than a new 780, so I kinda want to look into it for fun :P

No it literally is not possible. The technology simply would not work. Don't speak out of your ass.

Dude. I know it. IT IS. Look it up. If the cards are based on the same technolgy and are similair enough IE 760 and 670 (not the same chip) it can be done. *Sassy voice* DO YOUR REASEARCH!

I know that cards that are similair enough can be SLI'ed and 780s and 780ti are more than just similair. I know that one individual on the forum SLI'ed a 670 and 760 and they were both reconised as 760s (the weaker card)

Seem like the same idea with the 3GB and 6GB version... well thanks for your info :D

Do your own research. ITS NOT POSSIBLE. Just because with AMD cards when using the same architecture they can crossfire doesn't mean the nvidia cards can SLI in the same way. "Similar enough" is not enough.

The problem is the difference in the VRAM (when comparing two GTX 780's).

It was early last year (?) that NVidia stated that SLi now requires the same GPU core, and the same amount of VRAM. Prior, you could SLi a 4GB GTX 760 with a 2GB GTX 760.

If the system / drivers detects the difference in VRAM, it just won't let you enable SLi. The limitation are coded into the drivers.

You could use the older drivers...but drivers from 1+ year ago? Think that through first...

You technically can run a GTX 780 / GTX 780 Ti / GTX Titan together, as all use the same GK110 chip, but you may have already know, NVidia doesn't like to "bend" that way.

I tell you it is possible. However it is very tricky. I've seen it done.

I'm tired of arguing with you.
