Hi Guys,

I'll give a brief introduction to what type of system I am hoping to build; It's main uses, the aesthetics and of course, the budget.

Main uses - I'll be using the system for mostly gaming, Predominantly strategy games and some MMO, however I would like the computer to be capable of handling AAA titles. Also, my partner will be using the computer to develop and edit her photos through the use of Photoshop, Lightroom etc.

Aesthetics - I'd like the computer to look colour coordinated, preferably Blue / black or Yellow / Black.

Budget - Approximately £1000 for the computer excluding monitor.

Here's the list I've compiled so far (Please give constructive criticism where required) I wont bite:

Case - Corsair 450D

Motherboard - I've researched the Z97 platform for hours and still have not came to a decision which one to go for: ASRock Z97 Extreme 4, MSI Z97 M power or any other alternatives that you guys suggest.

Graphics - Gigabyte Windforce GTX 970

Ram - Anything that matches the colour scheme and offers good performance

CPU - I5-4690k

CPU cooler - Corsair H100i

SSD - Looking for a good deal on one, will primarily be used for booting the operating system.

HDD - Considered a hybrid, are these worth the slight increase in cost in comparison to a traditional HDD?

And Finally the monitor - Looking to strike a balance between Gaming / Colour reproduction for photo editing etc. £300-500 would be the budget for a monitor.

Any help in relation the subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jordan

Thanks for the quick Responses guys.

Few more questions:

Motherboard - Why do you favour the gaming series over the M power? What improvements / advantages does it offer? As I've said, I'd like to stay colour coordinated. I know this can pose problems, however I'm not keen on the now generic Red / Black theme being rolled out by the manufacturers.

Monitor - Is 4k really necessary and would a 970 cope with that sort of resolutions?

On the Monitor Subject - I've recently stumbled upon these Korean monitors (Crossover 290M looks tempting) that everyone seems to be rating highly. Are these worth the additional risk, what's your thoughts?

and also the 4k monitor is optional but you can the ASUS VG248QE that is a 144hz 1080p monitor

and also what do u mean by m power motherboards?

and also srry for the late reply today :(

The MSI M power Board - I was wondering the main differences / advantages between the power series and the gaming series. I Like the colour accents on the Mpower board and the general look in comparison the the gaming series.

Either looking to go Black / yellow or Blue / Black theme.

The only problem with the 144hz Asus, is the TN panel - Not great for colour reproduction, which would be a necessity for my partners photo editing.
