New PC build not booting up

Go to solution Solved by Faceman,

@ForsakenLive might have just solved your problem, I bet that is it.

Is it a Z87 or Z97 motherboard?

If it is a Z87 motherboard, you will need a BIOS update before it will be compatible with the Devil's Canyon processor.  In order to do a BIOS update, you have to have a compatible haswell processor in order to get the computer to boot, and to download the new BIOS.

If this is what happened, don't worry, nothing is damaged, just find a cheap haswell processor, maybe a celeron if they make a celeron that works in Z87? and use that to just get the BIOs you need.  Otherwise, return the motherboard or CPU because they aren't compatible with one another.

Hello there I have currently just finished building a gaming pc,

SPECS:

Gigabyte g1 sniper

Core i7-4970k

16gb Kingston hyper x ram

EVGA gtx 780 6gb sc edition

Corsair cx750m psu

Kingston hyper x 120 gb ssd

Seagate 1tb hdd

NZXT source 530 case

Unfortunately I have come across a major problem. When ever I turn on my computer everything starts up, but my pc doesn't boot up. I've tried clearing the CMOS, reseating the ram, replaced the cpu fan, and still nothing works. Please help I really want to get this pc up and running.

LEDs on the motherboard turn on? PSU Fan spin?  Want to get some light in that picture?

Try setting it up outside the case if you already didn't do that.  Also use a multimeter to test the psu.  Try the video card in another pci-e slot.  Try booting it up without the video card in also. Do other things people have already mentioned also.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

I think the compatability of the two pieces is right i was told that the f9 bios would be fine to boot but I'm pretty sure that I have to buy a z87 processor to flash to the f10 bios

Well, if you went into a brick and mortar store, and a sales associate told you that, I think you have grounds for a return, or for them to loan you a haswell processor in order to make the switch.

Did you buy the motherboard brand new?  If yes, then it is absolutely not compatible without a BIOS update.  Whoever told you otherwise needs to be sent in for training and reported to the store manager.

I purchased all of my pieces off of amazon but when my processor arrived it had a faulty cpu fan. I brought this to the attention of an intel customer service agent to get the fan replaced and when I asked about my computer not booting up I was told that the fan was probably my issue

Thats not sure issue.  If it were the fan, it would say CPU_FAN Problem, but that would be after it at least POST'd.

Its the Z87 paired with a Devil's Canyon motherboard.  That is 100% the issue.
