Should I bother.

Go to solution Solved by AMICLG,

Well firstly, once you get to that point in time. Find out if your future motherboard can properly run the DT880's that you want, before you go about spending pointless.

I'm 99% sure I'm going ITX so that kinda narrows down the boards able to drive them, the new Gigabyte boards can and I've been eyeballing it them for a while so I'll wait and see.

Should I bother getting a E10K. I'm using the HD 518 and my onboard isn't bad but isn't great, it also crackles slightly when I jiggle the plug a bit (rarely happens) because I broke the plastic and glued it. I do use my headphones 6+ hours a day but it really isn't bothering me that much, I guess I just need a second opinion to calm my indecisiveness even though I'm pretty sure at this point in time and with the headphones I'm using the answer is no unless you guys convince me otherwise.

pretty old chipset you have there, do you plan on upgrading anytime soon?

By that I mean your motherboard+CPU, or headphones.

Sometime in the next year or so which is why I'm kinda saying no.

I wouldn't buy the amp if I were you. You're not missing out on much, plus you get a free sound upgrade when you upgrade your CPU. Patience is a virtue. That Fiio thing costs, man.

I know I don't need the amp now but I might in the future (wanting a pair of DT880 Prem 250ohm) but this would be after I upgrade my rig in a few months to a year so I'm thinking I can deal for the time being.
