Star Wars IV

This is pretty amazing I have to admit lmao

"Just open Command Prompt and execute telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl. The movie will start immediately. This isn't a terribly productive use of the Command Prompt, nor is it really a trick of the Command Prompt or any command, but it sure is fun!

Note: The telnet command is not enabled by default in Windows 7 or Windows Vista but can be turned on by enabling Telnet Client from Windows Features in the Programs and Features applet in Control Panel. If you'd rather not enable Telnet but would like to see the movie, you can also watch it in your browser here."

You already know about it so the rest of the world must already as well

MY BAD

I used to do this back in high school (around 8 years ago, even then it was a bit old)... Last time I tried doing it was after entering college and I can't connect to towel.blinkenlights.nl anymore...

You need to enable it. Open Control panel type in features "Programs Features" telnet server and telnet client (I believe)

Ok?

Point being it is so old that enough people know about this making it nothing special. It is cool, yes. But everything wears off with time.

Great then don't reply to the forum post?

It's not like I'm gagging you and dragging you in here

One of the problems I have with forums are people like you.. doesn't matter if the post is interesting they'll comment just to bitch about something.

How about no? Stop being a sore loser, you found something you thought was cool. But it is so old that nobody really cares, it happens, get over it.

Why come with your negativity? It really doesn't make any sense unless you're trying to be an outright cunt about it. How about next time you just look the other way, like a decent person.

You could enable in XP, I don't know about Linux, but I'm sure it's possible.

Why such a downer?

???

Not being a downer, but I really liked that ascii movie...

And you just got me curious if they're still up... I'll go try again when I get back home this weekend... My old machine's due for her regular workout...

How about I don't care and I can post where ever I want to on this forum? I'm not here to please you, get over yourself. By the way, pointing out facts is not negativity.

It's actually not that hard to make these, I've programmed quite a few pieces of software that work over the telnet protocol. Tho keep in mind telnet traffic isn't encrypted (insecure), so it's quite useless and hence why no longer comes pre-installed with later versions of Windows. If you have the urge to see it that bad you can always use Putty.

That is so neat. I didn't think you could do that, but I can get an idea of how it works now.
