[Rant] Pointless image sharing on Facebook

Why do people keep sharing these stupid "motivational" images, or ones with some bland/pointless quote or whatever? I have a rather extended family, and certain ones like + share such pointless images, ~5 times a day, either from random pages they are following, or ones they upload and post as a status.

 

For instance, 2 of my family members posted this -

So i responded with this, and an image - 

 

This guy has blue eyes...

And now i'm getting some PM's from family & friends that found it funny, or complaining about it being offensive. If they knock me off their facebook list, so be it. At least i won't have to see their mundane photo shares.  :D
