Before people start saying that it is a waste of money to upgrade from a 770 to a 970 .. Im gonna be building a portable gaming / media pc and instead of getting a 750 ti as i had previously planned, im thinking about getting a 970 Gigabyte or MSI non reference card (looks like they run 15-20 degrees cooler at load then the reference, wich is insane) and putting my 770 in the new machine.

My question is, what kinda setup will i need not to bottleneck the 770, my plans with the 750 ti was a i5 4590.

Were actually planning on maybe getting the 980, but where i live (Denmark) the 980 cost around 780$ and the 970 cost around 400$, wich is a pretty damn big difference.

Ryzen 7 3700x, MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX, 16GB Ballistix Elite 3600MHz, MSI RTX 2070 Super Gaming X Trio, Corsair RM750x V2

i5 4590 would do the job unless youre playing dayz or arma

Why wouldn't it do the job for that? It's not like there is a cpu that will fair better for those games.

It is relative, Bottlenecks depends on what game/application you are running.

They are one of the only popular games that need a very strong cpu. they are very poorly optimised cpu wise

I know, it's pitiful how poorly the game runs I just meant to point out you said it like there is a option better suited for that task.
