can't make an unturned server

so i'm trying to make a server on unturned so I can play with my brother but everytime I make one and my brother tries to connect it say it timed out can somebody help me

Its different depending on the router you use.

Port forwarding on your router needs to be done, otherwise it won't work.

disable them on both machines and it should work or add exceptions.

the one that links the computer to this one for internet is a cisco Linksys e1200

you havent said if you was on lan or doing it over the internet.

 

If your on lan (in the same house)  try disabling your windows firewall

 

to do this go here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/turn-windows-firewall-on-off#turn-windows-firewall-on-off=windows-7

 

if that works good!  now enable your firewall again, the same way you turned it off.

and do this: 

 

if your server is an EXE then allow the program through the firewall this way:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/communicate-through-windows-firewall#1TC=windows-7

 

if its not an exe or doesnt work you will have to allow it manualy please do this:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/open-port-windows-firewall#1TC=windows-7

You will need to do the outbound as well.

 

open UDP: 25444  and if it doesnt work to TCP:  25444  as well.  they will have to be seperate rules.   so if you open the inbound and outboud ports you should have a total of 4 rules.  2 for outbound (tcp and udp) and 2 for inbound (tcp and udp)

 

If your connecting over the internet then open the port on your router using this:

http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Cisco/Linksys-E1200/Minecraft_Server.htm

 

Open the port: 25444  with option "both" selected and make sure it is enabled.

You need to port forward, there is youtube tutorials on how to do so.  Very easy and can be done in 5 or so minutes.

i said that i was going over lan but i got it working by using logmein hamachi
